It's MY Document and I Don't Want It Changed!
|
| Do you have Word documents in your
computer that you don't want other family members or fellow
employees changing or even viewing? Maybe it's your
Christmas list and you don't want the kids seeing it or perhaps
it's a report you are working on at work and you would like others
to see it but not make changes to it.
If you don't want anything
changed, you should make the document "read only".
Word makes this pretty simple. Just finish writing your
document, then go to the File Menu and select "Save As".
In the Save As dialog box, click on the "Tools" button
and select "General Options".
|
In here you can select to
make it read only with a password.
If you want people to be able to open
it and read it, but not change it, put the password in the
"Password to modify" box. If you don't want anyone else
who has access to your computer to even be able to open this document,
put the password in the "Password to open" box. And,
make sure to put a check in the "Read-only recommended" box.
Now, if the kids find this file in your
computer, they won't be able to open it without the password. Or
if you share that report with your fellow employees, they can read it
but only those who have the password can change it.
Hang in there!
