Linda's MS Office Tips

Addressing Envelopes the Easiest Way

We all know we can go to MS Word's Tools menu and select "Envelopes and Labels", then click on the Label tab and type in the address, along with our return address and Word will create our envelope for us.  We also know that we can click on the Options button in this box and specify what size envelope we want to use.

But...do you know there's a faster and easier way to enter this information?

Go back to Word's Tools menu, but this time choose "Options".  When this box comes up, click on the tab at the top that says "User Information" and you will see a box in there that says "Mailing Address".  Put your own address in there so Word will remember it for your envelopes.

Now, open a document and write your letter.  Be sure to include the name and address at the top for the person you are writing to.

When you are done writing the letter, highlight the person's name and address before you go to Tools>Envelopes and Labels.  Now, when you get there, you see their name and address are already filled into the Delivery Address box and your address is in the Return Address box.  All you need to do is select your envelope size and hit "Print".

This one just saved you another 3 minutes.  In forty years, my tips will allow you to take an extra week of vacation. *Grin*

Hang in there!
