What Are Easter Eggs and Where Can I Find
Some?
Easter Eggs are hidden little goodies
inside software that the programmers and developers added when they made
it. Who knows? Maybe they were just bored. Even a geek
has to have fun sometimes.
Most of Microsoft's software has hidden
Easter Eggs in it but some are easier to find than others and some work
better than others.
An easy one to do is the VBA credits
movie in Word 2000 that also includes music, so make sure your sounds
are turned on before you try it.
Here's the steps to get it to work:
- Start Word 2000.
- Press Alt + F11 to start Microsoft
Visual Basic.
- RIGHT-click on the toolbar at the
top and select Customize from the menu.
- With the Customize box open, click
on the Help menu up on the toolbar. The Help menu menu will drop
down.
- RIGHT-click on "About Microsoft
Visual Basic". You will now see a floating menu with the option
"Name: &About Microsoft Visual Basic"
- Change the phrase "&About
Microsoft Visual Basic" to "Show VB Credits" (without
the quotes).

- Close the Customize box (using the
Close button).
- Select Help > Show VB Credits and
enjoy the show and the music.
Excel has some really cool ones:
A car racing game in Excel 2000 and a flight simulator in Excel 97.
If you want to give them a try, go to my Excel Easter Eggs page at

or go look for lots of others at The Easter Egg Archive

Have fun and hang in there!
